Treatment Pre-Post Care

Medical & Spa Services

Botox

After receiving a Botox/Dysport treatment please follow the below homecare instructions for best results.


  • Do not participate in activities that include heavy lifting, vigorous exercise or straining for 2-3 hours.
  • Do not rub, touch or manipulate Botox for 3 hours.
  • Avoid hats, visors, headbands, or laying flat for 4 hours after injections.
  • Avoid irritating products for 24 hours following treatment.
  • Makeup may be applied gently before leaving the office , remember to wipe away from your eye.
  • It may take 3-14 days (two weeks) for Botox to take full effect.
  • The most common side effects of Botox injections include headaches, nausea, redness, and slight pain to the injection site. Infrequently, patients may experience muscle weakness, or drooping for the upper eyelid.
  • Re-treatment is recommended between 3-5 months (no more than every 3 months).
  • If your upper lip has been treated you will not be able to drink from a straw , whistle, or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks.

Laser Services

  • For Laser Hair Reduction Services please shave the treatment area the evening prior or morning of treatment as we will need the area clean for maximum results.
  • If you experience ingrown hairs, dry skin, or sensitivity please exfoliate prior to your Laser Hair Reduction treatments.
  • Avoid sun exposure, sun-less tans, and tanning beds for 3-4 weeks prior to a laser treatment. This includes laser facials, laser vein removal and laser hair reduction
  • Do not bleach or use depilatory cream for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment.
  • No waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis of the area receiving laser for 8 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Patients may apply a cold pack to treatment area every 15 minutes to 1 hour to reduce discomfort or swelling.
  • If you are receiving a laser facial such as IPL or Laser Genesis your provider may send you home with homecare products to keep your skin comfortable.
  • Always apply an SPF post treatment.
  • Avoid Retin-A, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolics, and Astringents for at least 7 days prior and 7 days after treatment.

Possible Adverse Effects:

  • Crusting or blistering of the treatment area is abnormal but can happen. 
  • Swelling may occur and generally subsides in 7-10 hours.
  • Mild sunburn like sensation may last for 24-48 hours.
  • Hyperpigmentation or Hypopigmentation are more common on darker skin types. They also can occur from sun exposure either before or after treatment so it is essential you AVOID sun exposure prior to and after laser treatments. 

Waxing Services 

  • Hair needs to be 1/8 to 1/4 inches long before it can be successfully removed by waxing.
  • Please exfoliate a day before your waxing service. This can be done using a salt/sugar scrub, exfoliating mitt or brush or loofah.
  • You can use coconut oil or other natural unscented lotion or oils each day after your wax to keep the skin supple and help new hairs come in normally.
  • Some slight soreness, small bumps, and redness are common and perfectly normal reactions, particularly if this is your first wax.
  • Keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the first 24 hours (sometimes 48 hours).
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, hot tubs, or steam treatments. Avoid tanning, sunbathing and sunbeds. Be cautious of exercise and bathing suits and avoid swimming pools and chlorinated pools.
  • You May notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on the correct waxing cycle that gives best results. 

Lash Lift Services

  • Please avoid using any growth serum on the lashes 48 hours prior to your Lash Lift Service.
  • If you have eyelash extensions, they need to be removed at least 3 days to 1 week prior to your appointment.
  • No eye makeup the day of your appointment. Such as mascara, eyeshadow, or eyeliner.
  • Wash your hair prior to your appointment because you must avoid water or steam on the treated lashes for 24 hours.
  • You must remove contact lenses before the procedure.                                             
  • Avoid Moisture, excess steam, and water for the first 24hours post Lash Lift.
  • For the first 24 hours after the treatment your lashes are still quite delicate and malleable. Ensuring that you are not exposing your lashes to excess steam or moisture will prevent the lash lift from dropping.
  • Do not rub or play with your lashes.
  • It can be incredibly tempting to touch, play and admire your beautiful new lashes, we get it. However, try not to rub or play with your new lusciously lifted gems. Natural oils from your hands and skin can alter the structure of the lash lift and if you are playing with the lashes, they may fall out prematurely.
  • Do not use shampoos, conditioners, makeups, creams, eye serums or oils on the lashes or around the eye are for first 24 hours
  • Using any of these products can encourage the color of the lash tint to weaken or the lash lift to relax.
  • Avoid using strong eye makeup remover for 48 hours.
  • Try sleeping on your back for the first night to avoid lashes dropping on the outer corner.
  • As mentioned, the lashes are still quite delicate and malleable for the first 24 hours, try not sleeping face down and avoid wearing an eye pillow/mask the evening of your eyelash lift.

Dermal Fillers

After receiving a Filler treatment please follow the below homecare instructions for best results.


  • Prior to your treatment we recommend taking Arnica tablets 2-4 days before receiving filler. This will assist in minimizing bruising and swelling.
  • Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by provider.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid consuming excess amounts of alcohol or salts to avoid swelling.
  • If you have swelling or bruising, you may apply Arnica Montata, Ice or bromelain.
  • Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort.
  • Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you are experiencing swelling.
  • Wait a minimum of 4 weeks before skincare treatments or laser treatments.
  • Makeup may be applied to the treatment area 4 hours after care.
  • Prophylactics for cold sores. (antivirals, acyclovir).
  • Dermal Fillers last on average 6-12 months. It is recommended at the time of your treatment to schedule your 2 week check-in to ensure everything has settled to your satisfaction.
  • Most typical side effects are bruising, swelling, and redness.

Emsculpt/ Emsculpt Neo/ Emtone

  • Prior to your workout, drink lots of water!
  • Try not to eat foods that may leave you feeling bloated.
  • On the day of treatment, you are advised to wear comfortable clothing which allows flexibility for correct positioning during treatment.
  • You will be asked to remove all metallic accessories and electronic devices.
  • A successful treatment outcome can be affected by smoking or excessive alcohol consumption, as well as; eating disorders or on-going medications.

Facial Services

  • Patients will not need to do much prior to their facial service. Makeup is ok to wear to the appointment as a facial will provide a deep cleanse of the skin!
  • After your facial treatment avoid picking at your skin. It can be very normal to get a small breakout, pustule, or bump under the skin. As we cleanse and work at your skin during a facial it can bring debris up to the surface. We do our best to leave your skin in great condition after a facial, but it is normal for your skin to continue to cleanse its self after the facial treatment.
  • Any redness and breakouts should subside within 24-48 hours.
  • Makeup is ok to apply after your facial service. Try and avoid any heavy makeup if possible to allow your skin to breath and unwind!
  • Your face is fully cleansed after a facial service and we finish with wonderful finishing products. No need to re-cleanse after your facial service.
  • If you are using facials as a treatment, it it recommended to receive facials in a series of 4-6 sessions.

ThermoClear Treatments

  • Immediately after the treatment an ice pack, Polysporin, Bacitracin and/or Caladryl lotion can be applied – as there may be a mild swelling or edema. It is normal for the treated area to feel like sunburn for a few hours. Avoid any trauma to the skin for up to 24 hours, such as bathing in very hot water, swimming pool, hot tub or strenuous exercise. Try to keep the treated area dry.
  • DO NOT PICK the area – Avoid picking and scratching the treated area to achieve your best results. If any crusting appears you can apply an antibiotic cream. Some practitioner’s recommend Bacitracin and/or Caladryl lotion and others prefer an after sunburn gel.
  • Makeup may be used 24 hours after the treatment, unless there is any sign of epidermal bleeding. It is recommended to use fresh makeup or a powdered mineral makeup to reduce the possibility of infection.
  • You may shower after the treatment with tepid (lukewarm) water. If extensive work has been done on the treated area, you may need to apply Aquaphor or Vaseline when you are in the shower and lightly remove it after bathing. Skin should be patted dry and not rubbed. After 24 hours you can wash the area gently with a mild soap.
  • You may experience redness, scabbing and/or slight bruising from 5-7 days after the treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 2-3 weeks and throughout the course of your recommended treatment process. Use sunscreen SPF 25 or higher at all times when going out in the sunlight.
  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, bleaching, chemical peels and all laser treatments during the course of the treatment. Do not use irritants such as Retin-A, glycolic’s or loofa’s until the area has completely healed up.
  • Call your ThermoCLEAR professional with any questions or concerns you may have during your treatment.

PDO Threads

After receiving a PDO Thread treatment please follow the below homecare instructions for best results.


  • Prior to your treatment we recommend taking Arnica tablets 2-4 days before receiving filler. This will assist in minimizing bruising and swelling.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

  • Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort.
  • Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you are experiencing swelling or discomfort.
  • Wait a minimum of 4 weeks before skincare treatments or laser treatments.
  • Makeup may be applied to the treatment area 4 hours after care.
  • PDO Threads last on average 6-12 months. It is recommended at the time of your treatment to schedule your 2 week check-in to ensure everything has settled to your satisfaction.
  • Treatment will stimulate collagen production, which will increase firmness and elasticity of the skin in the treated area.
  • Most typical side effects are bruising, swelling, and redness.

Microneedling

  • Patients should take extra precautions to guard against sun exposure immediately following the procedure, as they may be more sensitive the first 48 hours following treatment.
  • It is important to wear an SPF 30+ to avoid direct sunlight during the course of treatments and thereafter.
  • Do not sure exfoliants or scrubs for 10-14 days after treatment. No heat exposure (hot tubs, saunas, steam or excessive exercise) for a minimum of 48 hours after treatment.
  • Please clean anything that may come in contact with your face (phones, glasses, and masks) with alcohol pads and change your pillowcase often. We want to keep your face or treatment area as clean as possible.
  • You should keep your skin free of any makeup or additional products not applied post treatment by your provider for a minimum of 12 hours.
  • Patient side effects may include: redness, swelling, burning, and skin sensitivity. This could last 1-3 days.
  • Swelling is expected immediately post treatment and generally resolves within 24 hours, but can persist longer.

Peel Services 

  • One week prior to treatment please avoid the following services: Electrolysis, Waxing, Depilatory Creams, Laser Hair Removal and patients who have had BOTOX® injections should wait until full effect of their treatment is seen before receiving a peel.
  • Two to Three days prior to your peel please avoid using Retin-A®, Renova®, Differin®, Tazorac®. Any products containing retinol, alpha -hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide. Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating. Patients who have had medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures (e.g. laser therapy, surgical procedures, cosmetic filler, microdermabrasion, etc) should wait until skin sensitivity completely resolves before receiving a peel. 
  • Patients should take extra precautions to guard against sun exposure immediately following the procedure, as they may be more sensitive the first 48 hours following treatment.
  • It is crucial to the health of your skin and the success of your peel that these guidelines be followed:
  • It is imperative to use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 (such as Environmental Defense Sunscreen SPF 30+) and avoid direct sunlight for at least 1 week.
  • Patients with hypersensitivity to the sun should take extra precautions to guard against exposure immediately following the procedure as they may be more sensitive following the peel.
  • Because of the superficial nature of this peel, patients should not expect to see visible peeling. Occasionally, some patients may have very minor flaking 3-4 days after the procedure.
  • Skin may appear slightly redder than usual for about 1 – 2 hours after the treatment. If neck and décolletage are treated, the redness might last slightly longer.
  • Skin should look normal the next day.
  • When washing the face, do not scrub, do not use a wash cloth. Use a soap-free cleanser such as SkinMedica Facial Cleanser or Sensitive Skin Cleanser.
  • After washing your face, apply SkinMedica TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream/Ultra Sheer Moisturizer or appropriate SkinMedica moisturizer recommended by your medical professional for 4-5 days and as often as needed to relieve any dryness.
  • The regular use of Retin-A, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) products or bleaching creams can be resumed after 4-5 days after the peeling process is complete.
  • Wait until flaking or mild peeling completely subside before having ANY OTHER FACIAL PROCEDURES including: Facials, Microdermabrasion, Laser treatments (including laser hair removal), Facial hair removal, BOTOX injections and Injectable fillers.
