Body Contouring and Cellulite Reduction

Treating cellulite has historically been a challenge—past and current modalities have offered short-term results and low patient satisfaction rates. But minimally invasive laser procedures that treat the three structural problems of cellulite provide you with the long-term success.

Even with diet and exercise, you may have stubborn pockets of fat that seem impossible to lose. Body contouring can target these areas- helping you achieve your desired shape. Non-invasive and minimally invasive body contouring treatments are on the rise more now than ever. Body contouring treatments delivers positive outcomes and little to no patient downtime, as compared to traditional liposuction and other surgically invasive procedures.

SculpSure

Achieve a natural looking, slimmer appearance without surgery or downtime.

Even with diet and exercise, most people have stubborn pockets of fat that seem impossible to lose. SculpSure’s body contouring technology can target and can destroy the targeted fat cells safely in just 25 minutes without affecting the skin’s surface. There is no recovery time following treatment, so you can resume your daily activities immediately.

What to expect during your SculpSure Treatment

When the treatment starts, initially you will feel a cooling sensation. This helps keep the skin comfortable during treatment. The cooling will be on the entire treatment, while the laser cycles on and off, raising the temperature of the fat cells. Most patients feel a deep warmth and/or tingling sensation intermittently throughout the treatment which is generally well-tolerated. Most patients need multiple treatments to achieve optimal results.

Skin Tightening with Titan

Titan works by heating and contracting the collagen and giving you a temporary lift. A lot of our patients choose Titan that are not quite ready for a face lift or will have a treatment to look great before an event. For optimal results, patients have 3 treatments done at least 4 weeks apart, with results lasting up to 2 years. The neck also has a good response with Titan.

TITAN is a great option for improving sagging jaw lines! It is a safer infrared laser that heats the deep dermal skin and thereby improving collagen and skin laxity. TITAN was one of the original skin tightening devices on the market and continues to be a favorite of ours with predictable outcomes.

The best candidates for Titan are those who have mild to moderate sagging.  The procedure can be safely done on the face, neck, and any part of the body.  It’s a noninvasive no-downtime procedure that’s well-tolerated.  Patients can expect about 20-30% improvement after 3-4 treatments.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

MonaLisa Touch is an innovative laser procedure that delivers fractional CO2 laser energy to the vaginal wall tissue. The procedure is performed in an office environment without the need for anesthesia, with minimal pain or side effects. This procedure resurfaces the vagina, removes irregularities, tightens the top layer of tissue and begins to stimulate the regeneration of collagen and elastin.  Another important benefit?  This is the first step toward abating urinary incontinence, in many instances.

Issues of gynecologic health are commonly seen in post-menopausal women, breast cancer survivors and women who have had a hysterectomy. In the US, as many as 50% of 64 million post-menopausal women suffer from changes to their gynecologic health, and over 2.8M breast cancer survivors.

US Census, 2010   National Institutes of Health 2011

Physicians are calling the MonaLisa Touch procedure “game changing” as there are currently limited treatment options for restoring gynecologic health.  Patients have stated that Mona Lisa Touch is a “life changing” procedure, and they feel almost immediate results after the first of the three recommended treatments.

Permanent Hair Reduction

Tired of waxing or shaving daily? Now you have a long-term hair removal option without nicks, cuts, or irritation. Smooth soft hair free skin can finally be yours with laser treatment.

The hair cycle is composed of three growth phases.  Anagen, the growing phase, is what the hair removal laser treats.  Telogen, the resting phase, and catagen, the transition phase, are NOT treated by the laser.  Every area of your body has different percentages of hairs in these three phases.  For example, bikini line hair has a higher percentage of hairs in the Anagen phase compared to the upper lip.  Thus, the bikini line usually requires fewer treatments compared to the upper lip.  Most patients typically have four to eight treatments over time. The more treatments you have over time, the less hair you will have!

What is laser hair reduction?
Light-based technology that utilizes pulses of light energy to gently penetrate the skin and specifically target, disable and destroy unwanted hair follicles. This noninvasive treatment is a comfortable and easy treatment for the age-old problem of unwanted body hair.
What other non-laser & light-based treatments are available?
Waxing, shaving, and the use of depilatory creams are well-established methods for hair reduction, albeit temporary. Electrolysis is the traditional tried and tested method for permanent hair reduction. However, it is often very time-consuming, painful, and not without complications. With rapid technology development, the most popular and effective method for hair reduction is the use of lasers or intense pulsed light, which are designed to damage and destroy many hairs at once, delivered in a brief period of time with reduced side effects. People are interested in laser or light hair reduction because the end results are consistent and predictable within a reasonable time frame that fits their lifestyle.
What areas can be treated?
Laser hair reduction offers patients a safe, fast, and effective alternative for dealing with unwanted hair. It is safe enough to be used on any part of the body (e.g., face, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, and arms).
Can tanned skin be treated?
An active tan from the sun or tanning beds is not appropriate for treating with laser. Tanned skin has a lot of pigment or melanin that may also absorb the LASER light energy intended for the hair follicles. It is recommended that a person does not have sun exposure in the area to be treated for a period of 3 weeks prior to treatment with LASER. Self-tanners must be faded from the skin for at least a week to 10 days prior to treatment. Discuss with your clinician the possibility of tanning during your series so that a safe regimen can be created.
How long will it take to recover?
Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment. In most cases, there is virtually no downtime and you may resume daily activity immediately. You may experience some redness after the procedure. Your clinician will answer questions about temporary changes in your skin color and how it may be camouflaged.
How many treatments will I need?
As previously mentioned, hair grows in 3 different stages. Hair can only be affected by light energy when it is in its Anagen stage. Additionally, hair located on different body parts has different growth cycles and percentages of Anagen hair at any one given time. Due to this physiology, a series of treatments must be given over a period of time, usually 4-8 weeks apart to address the growth cycle of the hair.
What will happen during the procedure? Will it be uncomfortable?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. The procedure is gentle, noninvasive and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic, but your clinician may choose to use it on more sensitive areas. Your clinician will discuss all your options with you.
What should I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some localized redness in the area that was treated that should resolve within a few hours. Results depend on your skin condition, the number and consistency of treatments, and the area treated. Your clinician will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care and results.

Vascular Treatment

Most people have an unsightly vein or two they wish they could hide, that prevents them from looking as beautiful as they feel on the inside. These include leg veins, rosacea, broken vessels, and facial spider veins.

Thankfully, you don’t have to live with them, or spend valuable time and money covering them up. Laser treatment helps to diminish the appearance of certain types of veins with no incisions, no downtime, and minimal discomfort. Similarly, laser or Intense Pulsed Light treatment can clear away vascular skin imperfections—and revitalize your face without surgery.

Revitalize Your Legs with Laser Leg Vein Removal

Unlike surgery that leaves scars, laser leg vein removal uses laser light to constrict blood vessels in the legs, causing the veins to visibly disappear. It’s a simple, clinically proven procedure for reducing the appearance of spider veins on your legs that gets you back on your feet quickly — and gets your legs back to their youthful appearance with ease.

Laser treatment for leg veins minimizes the appearance of:

  • leg veins
  • spider veins on the leg
  • reticular veins (bluish-colored)

Rely on laser leg vein treatment for:

  • Excellent results for spider and reticular veins
  • Noninvasive vein treatment for leg veins
  • Short procedure time (often less than 30 minutes)
  • Minimal side effects and no downtime

Many different vascular imperfections can appear on your face, preventing you from looking and feeling your best. Laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) vessel treatment gives you one convenient solution to treat them all — quickly and with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

Pulses of light target and erase broken vessels at the surface of your skin without harming surrounding tissue. As a result, you enjoy clearer skin that looks younger and fresher.

Laser or IPL vessel treatment can erase:

  • spider veins
  • broken vessels
  • telangiectasias

Take years off your face with laser or IPL vessel treatments that deliver:

  • Fast, easy removal of broken vessels and spider veins
  • Comfortable, convenient facial treatment sessions
  • Rapid recovery with no downtime
  • Non-surgical vessel treatment that’s ideal for all skin types

Light-Based Rosacea Treatment

Light-based rosacea treatment can reduce rosacea redness and “flushing” to reveal clearer, more natural-looking skin in just a few easy treatments, practically pain-free — providing a more permanent result than topical creams.

Light-based rosacea treatment can effectively reduce:

  • Rash, redness, and flushing
  • Acne-like papules, pustules, and patches
  • Rosacea swelling, inflammation, and discomfort

Rosacea treatments use pulses of light to target and treat the blood vessels responsible for the chronic redness that appears on your skin. Once the vessels responsible for the rosacea are treated, the redness and rash can disappear. Best of all, rosacea treatment can provide skin tone improvement by diminishing the appearance of broken blood vessels and acne-like breakouts associated with this common skin condition.

Oral medication and antibiotics for rosacea treatment can have systemic side effects and can take weeks to be effective. Medication-based treatments can also be dangerous for women who are pregnant or nursing. Light-based treatment for rosacea is a targeted remedy that affects only the blood vessels without harming healthy skin, so it may be a good alternative to creams and oral medications.

It also works quickly—sessions may take less than 30 minutes and you may see visible improvement after your very first treatment.

Embrace the advantages of light-based rosacea treatment, including:

  • Fast, easy treatment sessions with little-to-no discomfort
  • Comfortable sessions that can take 30 minutes or less
  • Excellent results with little-to-no recovery time

Scar Removal

The Practical Choice for Removing Scars. Treating scars is easier than you think. Choose laser scar removal to improve surgical and acne scars.

Laser scar removal uses powerful technology to reduce the look of scars without harming surrounding skin. In just a few fast, easy treatment sessions, scars are much less visible, leaving behind smoother, more attractive skin.

Choose laser scar removal for:

  • Little to no downtime treatments
  • Simple procedure with minimal discomfort
  • Quick, non-invasive treatment sessions
  • Excellent scar removal outcomes

How laser scar treatment works

Unlike surgery, laser scar treatment uses short pulses of micro-fine laser light to reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers, treating the support structure. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin—the crucial building blocks of normal-looking skin. It’s a fast and simple procedure that’s easy to tolerate and requires little-to-no downtime.

Apex Acoustic Wave Therapy

The APEX Acoustic Wave Therapy System is a state-of-the-art device allowing the application of therapy using non-invasive shockwaves. Shockwaves are one of the most effective ways to treat pain associated with the musculoskeletal system. A shockwave is defined as a wave with rapid increase of pressure within a short time and then having a gradual decrease of pressure with a small negative pressure phase. The energy of the projectile, which is generated by compressed air, is transferred to the transmitter at the end of the applicator and further into the tissue.  The medical effects are numerous, including new blood vessel formation, reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen production, dissolution of calcified fibroblasts, dispersion of the pain mediator, “Substance P” and release of trigger points. Here at Empower MedSpa, APEX is being used for musculoskeletal pain, cellulite reduction and erectile dysfunction. Call today for more information.

IPL Photo Facial

Intense pulsed light technology utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. The Limelight IPL device by Cutera allows the spectrum of light to be controlled. This allows the different modes to target your specific skin issues. Areas of concern, brown spots, dull skin or other evidence of sun damages and aging can safely and effectively be treated with the IPL Photofacial.

How many IPL treatments will I need and how often?
Generally, we recommend 3-5 photo facial rejuvenation treatments (each 3 weeks apart) depending on the amount of damage to the skin. After the initial series, maintenance sessions are often needed. Most of the damage to our skin occurred early on in life. What brings it to the surface is more sun exposure.
How much improvement will I see?
Thirty-two consecutive patients of Fitzpatrick skin types I-III underwent 1 to 7 treatments with intense pulsed light. Following treatment, 83% percent of patients had reduced redness, 75% noted reduced flushing and improved skin texture, and 64% noted fewer acneiform breakouts. — Journal of Drugs in Dermatology
What can I expect during my IPL treatment?
Each photo facial rejuvenation treatment lasts 15-60 minutes. We will remove all make-up, sun block and face creams. Men will be asked to shave on the day of treatment, prior to their arrival. Eye shields will be applied to protect the eyes. A cool soothing gel will be applied on the skin prior to treatment, which will help reduce discomfort. In addition, a cold air is blown on the skin to cool the surface of the skin and help with any discomfort. After the procedure you may be asked to ice the area and will be given any additional post-treatment instructions.
What can I expect after my IPL treatment?
Redness like a mild sunburn following the treatment generally lasts less than 24 hours. Avoid anything that creates heat for 2 days after treatment- hot bath, sauna, and exercise. Avoid direct sun exposure (natural and artificial) for 7-10 days following each treatment. Pigment present in the treated area will usually darken. This is referred to as “microcrusting”. Do not pick or scratch these areas. They will naturally flake off in 3-14 days depending on the area of the body treated. We recommend a microdermabrasion after your treatment to help remove the remaining crusting (1 week for face, 2 weeks for body after photo facial. We will provide you with complete take home instructions about your post treatment care.
