Microneedling & Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Microneedling and PRP
The science of harnessing and using the body’s own healing and reparative properties, is the latest development in anti-aging technology.
A microneedling pen, with super fine needles, is used to create microscopic acupuncture-like channels into the skin. This pen is set to penetrate at the right speed and depth through the outer, superficial layer of the skin (the epidermis) into the slightly deeper layer (the dermis) just underneath.
Microneedling has many amazing benefits, and is often used to improve the appearance of wrinkled skin, loose skin, acne scaring, pore size and stretch marks.
What is the Vampire Facial?
Long used in orthopedic medicine to stimulate healthy tissue and facilitate bone repair after injury, this model is now being applied to heal and correct the damage of time and environmental factors to the face and body. Dr. Charles Runels developed a technique specifically catering to aesthetic medicine in 2010 as an alternative to expensive and invasive surgical procedures.
A Vampire Facial® combines microneedling with application of Platelet-Rich Plasma. The procedure begins with drawing blood from the patient and then using a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The patient then undergoes a microneedling treatment. The PRP is then applied topically to the skin during the treatment. Injection of the PRP may also be used for deeper penetration and optimal results. Dermal Filler can also be used in concert with the microneedling and topical and/or injected PRP for the Vampire Facelift® to provide instant results and bridge the gap between the initial treatment and the final result.
Platelet Rich Plasma contains growth factors which are important for new cell generation and functions, such as creating new collagen and strengthening elastins, and are extremely beneficial to the skin. Microneedling allows for deep penetration of the growth factors and improves the results of the treatment significantly. This procedure is appropriate for those patients looking to:
- improve fine lines/wrinkles
- improve skin texture/under eye bags
- reduce pore size
- soften acne scars
PRP Hair Regrowth
A wide range of elements including heredity, stress, illness, medical treatment and nutritional issues can lead to unwanted conditions of thinning hair and hair loss. For example, 40% of women experience thinning hair because of menopause, and one in four women are predisposed to hereditary hair loss. And, according to the
American Hair Loss Association, two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss by the age of 35, and by the age of 50 approximately 85% of men have significantly thinning hair.
The PRP Stem Cell Hair Boost procedure combines a proprietary vitamin complex with stem cell transfer, microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy to stimulate new growth, enhance existing hair follicles and hair density and prevent shedding. Best performed in thinning areas, the treatment can also achieve a degree of new growth where hair is missing completely.
